Canning 101

Instructor Noelle Olson will cover water bath canning and food safety basics. You will learn how to safely preserve jam, jellies, chutneys, juices, and vinegar-pickled vegetables. Common nutrition concerns, such as preserving for low-sugar diets and minimal nutrient loss, will also be covered.

About the instructor:
A certified volunteer for LA County’s Master Food Preserver Program, Noelle teaches classes on safe food preservation techniques. A food microbiology and nutrition professional, she is passionate about empowering the public to practice healthier food choices and prevent food-borne illness.
