Demystifying credit (how FICO and finance can work for you)

June 20, 2013 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

| Free

Credit is something we all interact with but no one likes to talk about. Credit scores, credit cards and access to credit are all on everyone’s mind at some point but rarely do we feel comfortable to ask questions about what we can do to improve our credit.
In an age when your credit score (a FICO score) has a huge impact on your life, it is best to know the basics so you can create and maintain a stable financial future for yourself, and not allow companies to take advantage of what you don’t know.
This event will be a discussion on the basics of personal credit and how to gain access to credit. It will also discuss what a FICO score is, where it came from, and the tricks and traps you can avoid so you can protect yourself from predatory financial practices.
This discussion is great for those who are new to credit (18-25) those who want to improve their credit (but don’t know how) and those who are new the US (non-Americans) who would like to get a better understanding of how they can build their own credit to help improve their new American life.
This is meant to be a no-judgement zone for those who are scared to ask the questions that banks don’t give simple answers to.
I will also provide educational resources that are tailored to the participants needs.
