Fruit of Labor – Music for May Day

May 1, 2014 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Live music by Sara Judge and friends, including short readings from famous labor rights activists like Woody guthery, Bob Dylan and Howard Zinn, and spoken word by Gabriel Bellman.

Sara Judge is a local singer-songwriter. Her musical influences include Bob Dylan, Patti Smith, Bob Marley, Sleater Kinney, PJ Harvey and most recently Neko Case. Her live shows capture the energy of dub hall reggae and hip hop, but with the more intimate exchange of acoustic guitar and strings.

Sara’s music works by bringing the audience into the folk rock genre from a contemporary female perspective with an attitude of “radical engagement.” Her experiences in directing and performing theater in Philadelphia helped shape and inform her distinctive sound.
