The community has been gifted a 14,000 sq. ft. warehouse for the month of June. Now all we need is for the community to come fill it up – and it all starts this weekend, June 1st and 2nd.

Come down to 1131 Mission St between 7th and 8th on Saturday June 1st between 2-10 pm and/or Sunday June 2nd from 10 am-10 pm. This first weekend will function as an opening ceremony – we’ll be opening up the (mostly) empty [ freespace ] and invite you to bring your ideas, creativity, and excess stuff (folding chairs & tables, living room furniture, games, toys, bikes, helmets, etc) to fill it up.

Much of the space this weekend will be devoted to facilitated brainstorming, but we’ll also have a few programming elements kicking off.

The San Francisco Yellow Bike Project will be starting work on the free bikeshare program to be housed in [ freespace ], so feel free to bring an excess bike or helmet or some mechanical know-how to donate.

Additionally, the aesthetic transformation of the space will be underway with some amazing muralists doing their thing on the canvas that is our building for this month.

You’ll also likely be treated to spontaneous musical performances, network expansion, and opportunities for good, clean, playful fun.

Come down to get in on the ground floor of this experiment. [ freespace ] will be as meaningful as the community that comes together within and around it.
